Quick answer
What each one is reaching for tells you where each one is going. The verse compares appetites, not outcomes.
Read both lines
The two nouns are the interesting part: desire on one side and expectation on the other. The righteous want good things, and the verse says only good, which is a claim about the direction of their wanting rather than about their perfection. The wicked are described not by what they want but by what is coming, and the mismatch between the two halves is deliberate. One person's inner life is described; the other's future is. The book has already said that hope built on a wrong life does not survive its owner.
