Quick answer
The ear that can take correction ends up living among wise people. Company follows capacity, and this is how a person joins the wise rather than merely admiring them.
Read both lines
The whole verse turns on one organ. It is not the clever mind or the disciplined will that lands a person among the wise; it is an ear that will hold still for "the rebukes of life," correction that gives life rather than wounds it. The second line names the outcome as residence: he will "abide," dwell, live there. This is the exact inverse of the scoffer at 15:12 who will not go to the wise. Both men are sorted by their ears, and both end up living with the people their listening earned them, which is one of the quietest and most reliable mechanisms in the book.
