No. Christ became a curse for you and broke every curse at the cross. In Him you are a new creation, and no ancestor’s sin holds a legal claim on your life.
The Grace Answer
Someone told you the reason your family keeps hitting the same walls is a curse handed down through the bloodline, and now you are wondering what ritual it takes to break it. Set that fear down. If you are in Christ, the breaking is already finished, and it did not depend on you finding the right prayer.
Paul could not be clearer. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. On the cross Jesus stepped into every curse the law could pronounce and absorbed it completely, down to the last one. There is no curse left with authority over someone hidden in Him. To go hunting for a leftover curse to break is to search for something the cross already emptied of its power.
Guilt is not inherited
Even under the old covenant, God said the soul who sins is the one who bears it. The son does not carry the guilt of the father. So the idea that your grandfather’s sin has placed a spiritual lien on your future does not survive contact with Scripture. And on this side of the cross, you are not even the person you used to be. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away.
So what about the very real patterns you see, the anger, the addiction, the anxiety that seems to run in the family? Some of that may carry a spiritual dimension, and grace does not ask you to pretend otherwise. But much of it is inherited the ordinary way: trauma, learned habits, beliefs, environments, even genetic vulnerabilities a child absorbs by growing up in a certain home. Those are real, and they may call for healing, treatment, renewed thinking, and wise support over time. What they are not is an inherited legal sentence that outranks the finished work of Christ. You do not need a ceremony to cancel what Jesus already cancelled, and you do not need to fear a curse the cross already disarmed. You need to know who you now are, because a new identity is what actually rewrites the pattern.
